Challenge

  • Redesign the unit to allow for substitution of custom components (requiring costly tooling) with standard parts readily available on the market
  • Further simplify the design by replacing costly tubes with fabricated metal channels

Results

  • Fully preserved the intended functionality and appearance
  • Cost of the system was reduced to $250 and met Beam’s advertising cost target
